A year ago, one year today - - -
My dearest mama went away!

 "You can do it Gina" is what she would say
What I wouldn't give to hear that today!

 They say the first is the hardest,
First birthday, first Christmas, first Easter I know
They just weren't the same without her special "glow"
The first time I had to handle the stress of life
Without a rescue call saying it was alright!

 "I'm proud of you Gina" is what she would say
What I wouldn't give to hear that today!!

 "You're so strong - You've done good - You've wanted another
 What a beautiful boy - you've got in Connor!"
He looks like his Grandpa - that poor little guy -"
That's what she would say with pride in her eyes!!!

 "He never gives you more...Gina" is what she would say
What I wouldn't give to hear that today!!

 "I wish I could help you, but you're doing just fine
It's hard to raise teenagers especially in these times
Three teens and a baby I know that it's tough
Maybe it's payback  she'd say with a laugh!!!"

 "I've got to run now Gina" is what she would say,
Now, talk to your Dad, I'll call again someday!

 It's been a long year - one year today
That's when my dear mama went away!

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
And God forbid love ever leave you empty handed.

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And if you get the chance to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance, I hope you dance.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
And never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances but they're worth taking
Loving might be a mistake but it's worth making.

Don't let some helping heart leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out, reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
