What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No not just for some but for everyone.
Lord, we don't need another mountain
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross
Enough to last till the end of time.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some but for everyone.
Lord, we don't need another meadow
There are cornfields and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine
Oh listen Lord, if you want to know.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some
Oh, but just for everyone.
It has been a couple of years since the
terrible tragedy in New York, but we have all
moved on with our lives, as we should. In
the aftermath however, our lives are not the
same and our everyday vocabulary has
changed. We now include words and phrases
like terrorists, Taliban, Al-Qaeda, anthrax,
9-11, ground zero, and "Let's Roll" in
our daily conversations. We
know exactly where Afghanistan and Iraq are located on the
world map, and Baghdad, Tikrit, Kabul, and
Mazar-e-Shariff are familiar locations in those
countries. I'm sure we know more about
Saddam Hussein than we ever wanted to know
before, and our flag and the colors red,
white and blue are more prominent than they have
ever been before. We are probably more
familiar with our President, and can name many
of the members of his staff and their position
in our government and the war on terrorists. We
are more alert and aware of our surroundings and
the people around us, and we arrive at airports
much earlier and stand in long lines while
waiting to go through security. All of
this is good and as it should be. We
have asked God to bless
America, and now I think our prayers should be
to ask for a large bouquet of His love for the
entire world - not just for some but
for everyone.
