"I Saw a Mighty Waterfall"
I saw a mighty waterfall
With raging waters tumbling down
Over boulders, rock and cold hard stone
As it plunged upon the ground
And on the
roaring forceful impact
The water's flurry took an upward flight
To be transformed into a misty spray
Shimmering as jewels in the bright sunlight
Then as the
refreshing sunlit mist
Lightly dropped into the pool again
It gently flowed into a graceful stream
For calm and peace to once again reign.
And I
learned that sometimes life can sadly be
Just like the mighty waterfall
When troubles and problems come our way
And turmoil and confusion reign over all.
But then the
powerful impact will come
When we begin to understand and perceive
And then once again we can venture back
To the peace and calm of the stream.

I saw
a lonely flower
Among the fern and rocks and shrub
Tall majestic trees towered over
And hid the bud from the sun above
Yet in its
grace and will to endure
It blossomed in spite of barriers met
To become a fragile, delicate bloom
And painted a picture I'll never forget.
And I
learned no matter how dark it may seem at times
We all have the strength to survive
For deep inside we all carry the will
To keep ourselves strong, healthy and alive.

I saw
a colored rainbow bold and bright
It's pastel hues crossing the sky
To signal the promise of a sunny new day
After the dark clouds have all passed by.
And I
learned when times are tough and you see no end
There are promises of a brand new day
We need only to watch for the signs to appear
And to listen to what our hearts have to say.

This page is
dedicated to John, a friend whom I have known for almost 12 years. In
those 12 years, John taught me more about love, life, and the natural order
of things than I could ever have learned from a book. John's solution to almost every
problem or situation is to go to the mountains, the ocean, a river, or anyplace where you will find God's natural
creations. He believes that through these creations, you will find answers to your
questions or solutions to your problems, and do you know what? He is
right!
Also, there have been times
when I really needed a friend, and strangely enough and without even calling,
all I had to do was close my eyes and think of him, and there would be a knock
on my door. This really happened just that way.

"You've Got A Friend"
by James
Taylor
When you’re down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, oh nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I’ll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there
You’ve got a friend.
If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud.
And soon I will be knocking upon your door
You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I’ll be there.
Hey, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend
People can be so cold
They’ll hurt you and desert you
Well, they’ll take your soul if you let them
Oh yeah, don’t you.
You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I’ll come running to see you again
Oh babe, don’t you know that.
Winter spring summer or fall
Hey now, all you got to do is call.
Lord, I’ll be there, yes I will
You’ve got a friend
