At times I sit and ponder my thoughts
Of the way it might have been
If our lives had touched in another world
And our past could begin again

With all we've learned throughout our lives
While bound in loveless voids
Perhaps we might have shared our hearts
With a lasting love to be enjoyed

Would this love still be alive
Would it have lasted over the years
Or would our worlds have spread apart
Across the path of sorrowful tears

Perhaps it's just the span of years
Which has brought us to this place
With lifetime lessons we've had to learn
And experiences we've had to embrace

As I'm piecing my thoughts together
Through the disorder and disarray
I'll thrust aside the lingering doubts
And accept my world as it is today
