I received the
following e-mail from Bryan Peterman, one of our American
Soldiers who has been deployed to
Iraq again. He writes:
"About that time again, and I am
in Iraq, I'm
wanting to send out a shout to see
who is willing to sponsor a soldier
again. We have females with
our Battalion this time, so if you
would prefer to sponsor a female
soldier, let me know. I look
forward to your responses and will
do my best to link soldiers to
sponsors. I plan to turn the
packages over to a soldier with
the understanding that the
soldier needs to be sure and
write and thank the person that
sent it. Thanks again for all
the support in 04-05."
In response to his e-mail, I have made this page for
anyone who is interested in sponsoring a soldier. Some
soldiers do not receive mail or support from home, and a letter or
package can mean a lot to our soldiers who are currently sacrificing
their lives for us. If you
are interested, please read the following information provided by
Bryon:
The
address is:

I checked with the Post
Office, and you can mail a 12x12x5 1/2 Priority Mail flat-rate Box to a U.S.
military service member serving abroad with an APO/FPO address for $10.95.
Some of the boxes have a "America Supports You" logo on them. There
is a 20 pound limit on this box. You can get the boxes at your local post
office and there is no charge for the box.
Finally, I appreciate and thank everyone one of you who will take the time
to buy and send some of the above listed items for our soldiers. I
know it
will mean a lot to them to know that you are supporting them while they are
so far away from home. Be sure
to include a letter in the package! Please remember that it will take
time before you receive a response from
your Soldier.
God
Bless America!

"Letters From Home"
Recorded by John Michael Montgomery
My Dear Son, it is almost June
I hope this letter catches up with you, and finds you well
It's been dry but they're calling for rain
And everything's the same 'ole same in Johnsonville
Your stubborn 'ole Daddy ain't said too much
But I'm sure you know he sends his love
And she goes on
In a letter from home
I hold it up and show my buddies
Like we ain't scared and our boots ain't muddy, and they all laugh
Like there's something funny about the way I talk
When I say "Mama sends her best y'all."
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
Pick up my gun and get back to work
And it keeps me driving me on
Waiting on letters from home
My Dearest Love, its almost dawn
I've been lying here all night long wondering where you might be
I saw your Mama and I showed her the ring
Man on the television said something so I couldn't sleep
But I'll be all right. I'm just missing you
And this is me kissing you
XX's and OO's
In a letter from home
I hold it up and show my buddies
Like we ain't scared and our boots ain't muddy, and they all laugh
Cause she calls me "Honey", but they take it hard
Cause I don't read the good parts
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
Pick up my gun and get back to work
And it keeps me driving me on
Waiting on letters from home
Dear Son, I know I ain't written
But sitting here tonight alone in the kitchen, it occurs to me
I might not have said, so I'll say it now
Son, you make me proud
I hold it up and show my buddies
Like we ain't scared and our boots ain't muddy, but no one laughs
Cause there ain't nothing funny when a soldier cries
And I just wipe my eyes
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
Pick up my gun and get back to work
And it keeps me driving me on
Waiting on letters from home
