In Memory of the 14 Students and 1 Teacher in Littleton, Colorado

What is happening to our children?
Where have we gone wrong?
And how can we protect them
To keep them safe from harm?

Our children are killing children
And the horror of this crime
Shows our world is troubled
With no answers at this time.

What about the innocent
Who daily enter school?
To a place no longer safe
To learn the golden rule?

What of the one who taught them
Who lovingly shared his life?
To teach and guide and lead them
Beyond the stress and strife?

And what of those very few
Who are troubled and in pain?
Where is the help they desperately need
Can we guide them or is it all in vain?

Our children need our help
And right now the question is how . . .
We cannot let this horror go on
We need to end it now!!!

This new event is continuing to show us that our children need help. We can continue to blame the "glorified" media coverage, gun control, or the lack of parental control, but in reality, we need to find out what is really going on with some of our children today. Does society play a role in this equation? Does television, music, or video games play a role in this equation? Where do we place the blame? But, is placing the blame the real answer? No, we just need to find out what is going on.

Is there help for us? Is there help for our children? Yes, I think there is. The real help is with our medical/mental system, our state and federal agencies, and the combined support of our communities, but is this help always available? These are the questions we need to ask, and the answers we need to find in order to help our children and make our country a better place in which to raise our children.
