Twas long ago when . . .
Per, a very gentle Swedish man
Met Amelia, his lady fair
They fell in love, and then were wed
And nine children they did bear.

Anna Sophia, their very first-born
Was a baby girl who brought them great joys
Then came Alexander, their first-born son
Later followed by seven more boys!

When Alex was two they traveled the seas
In search of the "Promised Land"
To cultivate the soil and plant their crops
Hard work; twas all done by hand.

Once settled in America soil
Came John, whom we called "Jack"
Then along came Carl, followed by Albert
Then Henry, the one called Hank.

The seventh born was George, a son
Then came Ernie, tho Ernest was his name
And last but not least, came Otto the boy
But the name "Swede" gained him fame.

Per and Amelia taught all their young
To be truthful with honor and esteem
For their adopted land, and with hard work
Their rewards would all be seen.

Now generations have passed
Since guided by their deeds
But we are children, grand and great
And as a family we're all proud to be . . .

Per and Amelia's
American-born Swedes!
