It
seems like many times during our life we come
upon a fork in our road of life, and when we
do, we have to make a decision as to which
road to take. This is not always an easy
decision, and sometimes it can be a very
dramatic decision that will affect the rest of
our life. Life is not always a straight
path, and there are many circumstances in our
lives that can bring about a fork in our road,
including heath issues, divorce, school and
education decisions, job issues and many other
personal and family issues.
When
we come to that fork in the road and take the
new road less traveled, it is almost a certainty
that we can never go back. That old road
is now our past, and while we can retain the
memories and experiences - both good and bad -
of the old road, it is the new road we are now
traveling that has to become the main focus in
our life.
In
our lives we face many new forks as we travel
along our personal road of life, and while we
may have some regrets about the road we left
behind, move forward on the new road and grasp
all the new experiences and life events ahead
of us.
Personally,
I have taken many new forks on my road of
life, and while I do have fond memories and
even some regrets about a few of the old roads
I traveled, I have many more positive memories
and thoughts of the experiences I gained on
the different forks in the road I traveled
though out my lifetime. These experiences have
made me who I am today, and I think that is a
positive thing.
Yogi
Berra once enigmatically quipped, "When
you come to a fork in the road, take it!"
and from my experiences, I agree with him.
