We are all created different
Unique in our own way
The way we look, think and feel
And the things we do and say.
As parts of a real-life puzzle
We take our proper place
To complete the real-life picture
Of the world and human race.
But as a piece of this puzzle
We share a common thread
For we all have dreams and wishes
In the life we gently tread.
Some seem to think some pieces
Do not belong or want to delete
But without a single real-life piece
The great puzzle is not complete.
So as you look around and see
A different image, belief or role
Remember without this piece
The great picture cannot be whole.

The whole world is made up of many sizes, shapes and colors. It holds many
beliefs, views, customs and traditions. We too often judge people by these
differences, whether it is because of their race, their religion, their sexual
orientation, or their disabilities, such as the developmentally disabled.
Quite often we think of the developmentally disabled as people who are not
capable of the same thoughts and feelings we share and experience. But, this
is not true. These very "special" people from God lead productive lives,
are loving and caring individuals, have the same hopes, wishes and dreams
that we all share, and aim for their goals and objectives with the same drive
and determination as the rest of us. Like everyone else, they are pieces of
the real-life puzzle, and have their place in the whole and complete picture.
"The page is dedicated first to my
daughter, Teri
and
my
sister, Deanna,
and then to all the other caregivers for the developmentally disabled
community. These devoted caregivers are very special people in themselves.
But most of all, I want to dedicate this page to my very special friend
"Nettie", who has given me much more than I could ever give to her in
return. She has enriched and blessed my life just by being a part of it."

"Everything Is Beautiful"
Written and Recorded by Ray Stevens - 1970
Everything is beautiful in its own way
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter's day
And everybody's beautiful in their own way
Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find the way.
There is none so blind as he who will not see
We must not close our minds; we must let our thoughts be free
For every hour that passes by, we know the world gets a little bit older
It's time to realize that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
And everything is beautiful in its own way
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter's day.
Ah, sing it children!
Everybody's beautiful in their own way
Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find the way.
We shouldn't care about the length of his hair, or the color of his skin
Don't worry about what shows from without, but the love that lives within
And we're gonna get it all together now; everything gonna work out fine
Just take a little time to look on the good side my friend
And straighten it out in your mind.
And everything is beautiful in its own way
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter's day.
