"Auld
Lang Syne" is a Scottish song meaning "Old Long
Ago". the song is about love and friendship and
the phrase "We'll take a cup of kindness yet" is
referring to a drink shared to symbolize friendship. The
song was written by Robert Burns (1759-1796) in the 1700's,
but wasn't published until after his death in 1796.
