1950's
Academy
Awards
"Camera, Lights,
Action!"

Let's take a trip back to see what we can see
To the 1950's without VCR's and DVD's
Off to the movie house with a date to hold our hand
To see the best movies and stars in movie land.
The theaters contained only one movie screen
With a commercial to go to the popcorn machine
We saw a cartoon; such as Tom and Jerry the mouse
Or Sylvester and Tweety demolishing the house.
The newsreel would flick the "News of the Day"
Before the main feature got on its way
Then we all settled back to watch the stars we adored
And hoped they'd get picked for an Academy Award!
. . . and now, on with the
show!

Song of the Year"

Because
there are 10 songs on this page, they have all been reduced to samples
only. The name/names of the artist who performed the song in the
movies is in parenthesis under the title of each song. Because I do not have some songs
by the original performers, I had to substitute other artists, and these artists are listed second under the song title.
