Let's continue our travels southbound on Mitchell's Main Street.

Ruby Ann Bakery
323 North Main

Can you smell the warm bread just out of the oven?
And the pies and cakes and cookies?
What a nice smell as you're passing by
It's a "homey" smell you can't deny.

State Theater
313 North Main

The State Theater, formerly the Paramount,
gave us a chance to sit and watch the big screen.
And Humphrey Bogart won the Oscar
for his role in the "African Queen."

Spudnut Shop
303 North Main

Do you remember Mr. Spudnut
with the best donuts in town?
My favorite was the chocolate topped,
but the glazed were the most renown.

And now another side trip.  We'll take a turn and travel east
to see the latest 45's that have been released!

Mitchell Music
116 East 3rd

Our music was the BEST!
We even helped to create Rock & Roll!
We danced the Jitterbug, and learned how to do
"The Stroll"

Let's continue East to Lawler Street and see what's playing at the Roxy.

Roxy Theater
209 North Lawler

With pop and popcorn in your hands; it's time to take your seats.
This classic movie is about to begin; the curtains have begun to draw.
We can't miss a single scene.
Especially the scene on the beach!

Well, now that the movie is over, let's go back to Main street
and continue our journey South.

J C Penney
221 North Main

Oh, the fashions back then!
Circular skirts with can cans, straight skirts about mid-calf,
cardigan sweaters with a scarf, and our glasses - oh, those glasses!
It does make you laugh!

This store had a real novelty act; like one you haven't seen since.
You paid for your goods; your money traveled up a cable track.
Then it returned with your receipt and your change back!

What an invention!

Scallin Drug
212 North Main

If you needed your prescription filled,
Scallins was the place to go.
And as you waited you could refresh yourself
By sitting on a fountain stool with a cherry coke.

The Toggery
211 North Main

Men's fashions were not too bad,
and I always thought the DA was cool.
But look like the Fonz?  No, they did not!
But they usually dressed cool, especially for school.

Kresge's Five & Dime
209 North Main

If you couldn't find what you wanted any place else
this is where you go.
They sold anything and everything
And you could always find toys and gift package bows.

Time Theater
203 North Main

The Time Theater - what a treat!
Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and Trigger too.
Gene Autry with Champion; 'ole Gabby Hayes
And flying in space with Space Gordon and his crew.

All of this for only 12 cents admission fee!

Woelfel Jewelry
202 North Main

The store to shop for that very special gift
He had gems to offer to give your loved one a special lift.

Snow's Ice Cream
201 North Main

Snow's Ice Cream was a very special treat
A malt, a sundae or an ice cream cone
The choices were just too much.
And blowing the straw sleeves to stick to the ceiling
Required a very special (blowing) touch!

Kiner's Cafe
110 North Main

Emma's homemade pies were the specialty,
and she was known from far and near.
"Order In!" created a full meal dinner,
and "Order Out"" brought it to your table,
served with a smile and good cheer.

Well, our journey has finally come to an end.
You've traveled Mitchell's Main Street from long ago.
We hope each stop brought back memories,
and some nostalgia has bestowed.

Your driver is waiting to take you back
to where the trip began.
He'll be waiting there if you should return
and want to travel the journey again.
