Who's the one who tied your shoe when you were young
And knew just when to come and see what you had done
Mama, oh Mama

And who's the one who patched your eye
And told you not to cry
Cause he was too big for you to try
Mama, Mama

And who's the one you didn't need to plead
To give her time to the Little League
It was Mama, oh, Mama

And who's the one who gave her shoulder
When you told her your first love was over
She'd met someone older
Mama, Mama

It was Mama, my Mama
Mama, oh, Mama

Who's the one who taught you obligation
Then dedication, results graduation
Mama, Mama

And who's the one who's shown the friends you've known
A home away from home when they were tired and all alone
Mama, Mama

And who's the one who held a tear inside
When you introduced your future bride
And who's the one who didn't mean to cry
As you walked down the aisle
The tears you saw her smile
Mama, oh, Mama

Mama, my Mama
It was Mama

"Mama"
Recorded by B J Thomas in 1966
Words & Music by Mark Charron
Peaked #22 on the Charts

B J Thomas was born Billy Joe Thomas in 1942 in Hugo, Oklahoma, and was raised in Houston, Texas.  Before his singing career, he sang in a church choir.  He joined a group called "The Triumphs" and as B J Thomas and The Triumphs, recorded their first album in 1966, named "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry".  His song "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" was  the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1970.  Thomas continues to record and tour.

The music playing is a condensed version of "Mama", and is for entertainment, educational and evaluation purposes only. Titles have full copyright by their respective artists and record companies. Please show your support for the artists who gave us this great music by purchasing their CDs.

If you are interested in purchasing a full version of "Mama" by B J Thomas, I have provided a link below to Amazon.com. They sell both new and used CDs. I have purchased many used CDs for my web pages and have never had a problem. Amazon also sells MP3 downloads in several categories with single songs ranging from 89 to 99 cents.

Thank you.
