Al Martino was born Alfred Cini on October 7, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was an Italian American singer and actor, known as one of the great American pop crooners. He recorded many albums and single beginning in the 1950s all the way into the 1970s.

In 1972, he played the role of Johnny Fontane in The Godfather in Frances Ford Coppola's epic film.
