to "let go" does not mean to stop caring
it means I can't do it for someone else.

to "let go" is not to cut myself off
it's the realization I can't control another.

to "let go" is not to enable
but to allow learning from natural consequences.

to "let go" is to admit powerlessness
which mean the outcome is not in my hands.

to "let go" is not to try to change or blame another
it's to make the most of myself.

to "let go" is not to care for, but to care about.

to "let go" is not to fix, but to be supportive.

to "let go" is not to judge
but to allow another to be a human being.

to "let go" is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes
but to allow others to affect their own destinies.

to "let go" is not to be protective
but to permit another to face reality.

to "let go" is not to deny, but to accept.

to "let go" is not to nag, scold or argue but instead to search out
my own shortcomings and correct them.

to "let go" is not to adjust everything to my desires,
but to take each day as it comes and cherish myself in it.

to "let go" is not to criticize and regulate anybody
but to try to become what I dream I can be.

to "let go" is not to regret the past
but to grow and live for the future.

to "let go" is to fear less and love more.

Too often we try to take on problems that do not belong to us, and we usually do this in the name of love. Most of the time these problems are not of our making, but we continue to think we could or should "fix" them. It is important to remember that we each have mountains to climb and rivers to cross on our travels through life. To climb someone else's mountain or cross someone else's river is to deny them the lessons they need to learn on their own path through life.

What we can do, however, is to be there for support, encouragement and inspiration when needed.  Giving unconditional love, a hug, or just being someone who will listen is sometimes the healthiest action we can take -  for them as well as for ourselves.

On wings of love, fly above
Those problems not our own
For we cannot solve nor dissolve
And we cannot bring them home.

As we fly above on wings of love
Let them know they are not alone
When they find their way, and on this day
Just be there to bring them home.

"You Are Not Alone"
Recorded by the Eagles

Say goodbye to all your pain and sorrow
Say goodbye to all those lonely nights
Say goodbye to all your blue tomorrows
Now you're standing in the light

I know sometimes you feel so helpless
Sometimes you feel like you can't win
Sometimes you feel so isolated
You'll never have to feel that way again
You are not alone, you are not alone

Never thought I'd find the road to freedom
Never thought I'd see you smile again
Never thought I'd have the chance to tell you
That I will always be your friend
You are not alone, you are not alone
