Happy Valentines Day!

It's Valentine's Day, and Cupid's at work
He takes his job serious, and this is no quirk
With bow and arrows he travels the land
Making love happen with the pull of his hand.

His first mighty arrow hits innocent love
As it glides down to earth from the sky up above
The tiny little sting makes little hearts pound
And they giggle and laugh as they shyly sit down.

                         

As the sun slowly drops along the water's edge
Cupid's powerful arrows make a definite pledge
Hitting romantic love with a tender caress
Leaving love struck lovers with grace and finesse.

As Cupid slowly enters a field of green grass
He sees the receivers of his very next task
He raises his bow with another love spear
Gently squints his eyes 'til his focus is clear.

Looks once again towards the sun's bright ray
Then lowers his bow and puts the arrow away
He watches the couple as they slowly walk along
And can faintly hear the man singing a song.

Cupid gathers his arrows and gets ready to leave
He has more places to go before the day's eve
He watches the couple as they sit down near a tree
And said, "It's as plain as can be that they don't need me".

"Theirs is a love with a story to be told
They've shared their youth, now together grow old
They've shared the good along with the bad
And this Lasting Love needs no help from this lad"
