. . . and I would like to introduce you to an 8-year old angel named Kaytelynn.  Kaytelynn is one of approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States suffering from a genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis.  CF occurs in approximately one of every 3,900 live births of all Americans.

Kaytelynn's Mom, Kimmi is a very good friend of my daughter, and on my ICQ and email list.  I received this letter from Kimmi last Sunday morning. I was very touched by Kimmi's letter, and asked her permission to do a web page for Katelynn.  She gave me that permission as well as permission to reprint her letter:

"Hello to all my dear family and friends,

I'm writing to all of you with a very heavy heart. As you all know, I have two beautiful children, Kaytelynn and Tanner. But, most of you do not know that my daughter has Cystic Fibrosis. She just turned 8 on the 13th of October. Last week she had a medical emergency and had to be rushed in to see her specialist. It just happened that she was scheduled to go in for her bi-annual CF check up. I was informed that she isn't growing.

She weighs 43 pounds and is less than 4 feet tall. The doctors are considering putting a feeding tube into her stomach hoping that this will help her to grow. She does eat very well for the most part; it's just that her little body is not absorbing the vitamins and nutrients that we all need to sustain life. I am trying to deal with all of the anxiety that I have about this, so I am asking for your support. I never thought that I would ask anyone for help when it came to dealing with Kaytelynn's health, but I am now. Please go look at the Cystic Fibrosis web page at http://www.cff.org.

Become involved with CF for Kaytelynn. Even if it's just prayers for her or even an email to her to let her know that you are thinking of her. If you have web pages, would you consider adding some kind of note about CF and that we have to find a cure, and find one soon! I am looking for support groups online, so if anyone happens to know of anyone that has CF or has a CF support group, I would much appreciate it if you would pass along their email address so that we could contact them.

My little angel has lived a third of her life expectancy. She has a lot to offer this world!  Thank you all so very much for listening."

Kimberly (aka Kimmi)

Yes, I believe in angels
For I see and hear them every day
I hear an angel in a baby's laugh
And watch an angel in a small child's play.

I've seen an angel in a little boy
Kneeling beside his bed in prayer
And I've heard an angel's gentle voice
In a small girl's song to her teddy bear.

Yes, I believe in angels
For I know our loving God above
Has sent these angels here to earth
To bring us joy, delight and love.

But sometimes these little angels from God
Need special love with special care
A gesture, a thought, a word of love
But most of all . . .
remembrance in our prayers.

Kimmi has asked for help and support for Kaytelynn, and now I am asking for the same help and support for Kimmi and Kaytelynn. Please visit the Cystic Fibrosis web site to learn more about this terrible disease and see what is being done to find a cure.

Yes, I do believe in angels; the ones God has entrusted in our care, and God's messengers, His guardian angels, who watch over and protect each of us.  If you have a web page and would like to support Kaytelynn in this disease, please feel free to take and use the symbol of Kaytelynn's Guardian Angel below with a link to the Cystic Fibrosis web site.

Thank you.

"I Believe"
Recorded by Frankie Laine

Peaked Billboard position # 2 in 1953
Words and Music by
Ervin Drake, Jimmy Shirl, Al Stillman, and Irvin Graham

"I Believe"

I believe for every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
A candle glows.

I believe for everyone who goes astray
Someone will come to show the way
I believe, I believe.

I believe above the storm the smallest prayer
Will still be heard
I believe that someone in the great somewhere
Hears every word.

Every time I hear a new born baby cry
Or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why
I believe.

Every time I hear a new born baby cry
Or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why
I believe.
