Way down in the Congo land
Lived a happy chimpanzee
She loved a monkey with a long tail
And Lordy, how she loved him.

Each night he would find her there
Swinging in the coconut tree
And the monkey gay at the break of day
Loved to hear his chimpie say:

Aba daba daba daba daba daba daba
Said the chimpie to the monk
Aba daba daba daba daba daba daba
Said the monkey to the chimp.

All night long they'd chatter away
All day long they were happy and gay
Swinging and singing in a
Honky Tonky way.

Aba daba daba daba daba daba daba
Means "Monk, I love but you"
Aba daba daba in monkey talk
Means "Chimp, I love you too"

Then the big baboon one night in June
He married them and very soon
They went upon their Aba Daba honeymoon.

"Aba Daba Honeymoon"
Recorded by Debbie Reynolds & Carleton Carpenter in 1951
From the 1950 movie "Two Weeks With Love"
Written in 1914 by Arthur Fields and Walter Donovon

Debbie Reynolds, born in 1932, was named Mary Frances Reynolds at birth.  At the age of 16 she won the Miss Burbank beauty contest, and this was the beginning of her career.  During the 50s she performed in many musicals and also recorded many hit records as a singer.

Carleton Carpenter, born in 1926, was a movie and TV actor, author and songwriter.  He is most remembered as an author who wrote many novels in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

The music playing is a condensed version of "Aba Daba Honeymoon", and is for entertainment, educational and evaluation purposes only.  Titles have full copyright by their respective artists and record companies.  Please show your support for the artists who gave us this great music by purchasing their CDs.

If you are interested in purchasing a full version of "Aba Daba Honeymoon" by Debbie Reynolds, I have provided a link below to Amazon.com. They sell both new and used CDs.  I have purchased many used CDs for my web pages and have never had a problem.  Amazon also sells MP3 downloads in several categories with single songs ranging from 89 to 99 cents.

I have also included a link to Amazon for the movie "Two Weeks With Love" starring Jane Powell and Debbie Reynolds on VHS. It is not available on DVD.
