Doris Day
was born as Mary Anne von Kappelhoff in
Cincinnati, Ohio on April 3, 1922. She is an
American singer and actress. She became one of
the biggest box office, with 39 films to her
credit. In 1989 she received the Cecil B.
DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion
pictures. She has also recorded over 650 songs.
She
became interested in animal rights in the
early 1970's co-founded "Actors and
Others for Animals in 1971. In 2006, The
Humane Society of the United States merged
with the Doris Day Animal League.
