Our trials and errors took us down long roads
On our lessons and struggles through life
Leaving traces of memories we often recall
Of the pain, the heartache and strife.

 We will never forget; we can never block out
These painful afflictions from the past
They are a part of our lives; of all that we are
Along with the truth we have both amassed.

 But in spite of our pasts, we can both move on
Into a future of harmonious love
By taking one precious day at a time
With powerful blessings from God above.

 We can leave the distant past behind
By going forward in our stride
As we search the desires and needs of our hearts
While walking hand in hand and side by side.

Our future is ours and ours alone
We do not know what this future will hold
But for now we can take one day at a time
And cherish each day as new memories unfold.
