"Lost in the 50's Tonight"

"Close your eyes baby; follow my heart
Call on the memories here in the dark.

We'll let the magic take us away
Back to the feeling when they played
"In the Still of the Night"

Hold me darling, hold me tight
So real, so right
Lost in the fifties tonight

Poodle skirts and saddle shoes
Dancing with the gang "At The Hop"
Poni-tails and the James Dean look
 These old memories never stop.

Along came Elvis in his
"Blue Suede Shoes", to become the King of Rock and Roll
And followed by the Diamonds,
a group of four, leading us all in
"The Stroll"

Comic books at just 10 cents a piece
With Archie, Jughead and the rest of the crew
"Batman", Superman performing their feats
These all hold memories for both me and you.

Western movies at the "Time" movie house
At 12 cents a ticket, the line was long
But then we saw Roy and Gene on the trail
Riding their horses and singing a song.

Roy Rogers
"Home On The Range"

Gene Autry
"Back In The Saddle"

"Come Go With Me"
to "Snow's" ice cream shop
For a chocolate malt with a straw
Shooting the straw sleeves until they stuck
Was a great challenge to us all.

On to the late drive-in show
As we park beneath the stars
Each with a date to snuggle up close
In the dark among all those cars.

The movie is over and it's time to leave
We "Wake Up Little Susie" before we go
Then replace the speaker on the post
Or we'll be dragging it in tow.

Back to town, but before we go home
We have one more midnight stop
 To the drive-in, "Kiner's" that is . . .
The food brought out by a smiling car hop.

A hamburger and Coke, and maybe some fries
Another malt sounds about right
Now it's "Bye Bye Love"; we'll all meet again
The very next time I get "Lost in the Fifties" at night
