Gene Chandler (Eugene Dixon), was born on July 6, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a powerful performer and signer.  When his "Duke Of Earl" song became a #1 hit in 1962, he bought a cape, a monocle, a top hat and a cane, and became the "Duke Of Earl", making him a legendary, drawing big crowds at his concerts.

At the age of 71 years, he continues to perform all over the U.S., and his vocal power and performance skills haven't diminished with age.  He still wears the cape.
