So many years between their births
As time has spanned the ages
For one the book of life begins
For the other a book full of pages.
The one who claims her book so full
Has watched her world expand
From very first car to a man on the moon
And freeways atop bare land.
From kerosene lamp to city lights
Through radio and TV
Computers allowing real-time chat
And this web page for the world to see.
But the one who just begins her book
Still lives in a world so small
But she will see her world expand
And spend her life in wonder of it all.
Where it goes, we do not know
Nor can we guess to the extent
Of all she'll see and learn from life
Or how her life is spent.

My mother and my great niece - almost 90 years apart in age.
The cycle of life is amazing. As we each make our journey
through life, we have new experiences, witness new events, and live in different
worlds. But, as we travel forward, we carry on old traditions and retain
old memories. These traditions and memories help us to become all that we
are in our new world, and this is exactly as it should be as we continue the
"circle of life."
