Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waiting for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailing.

Somewhere beyond the sea
She's there watching for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms I'd go sailing.

It's far beyond the stars
It's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon.

We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing.

I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet, I know we'll meet, beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing.

No more sailing
So long sailing
Bye bye sailing

"Beyond The Sea"
Recorded by Bobby Darin in January 1960
based on the French song "La Mer"
It was said to be one of his favorite songs

Bobby Darin was born May 14, 1936 in The Bronx, New York.  In later years he learned that his "sister" was in reality his mother, and the woman he thought was his mother was his grandmother.  He never knew his birth father.  At the age of 8 he had several cases of rheumatic fever, and as a result he suffered from heart disease his whole life.

He had extensive musical talent, and as a teenager learned to play several instruments which included the piano and guitar.  He was discovered as a singing talent in 1956 while playing in small nightclubs during the early years of "rock and roll".  His career took off in 1958 when he wrote the song "Splish, Splash", selling over a million copies.

In 1960 he became a motion picture actor and met and co-starred with Sandra Dee, who was 18 years old at the time.  They were married for 7 years and had one son, Dodd Mitchell Darin in 1961.  They divorced in 1967.

While still suffering from heart disease, he died on December 20, 1973 from complications after heart surgery to repair his heart valve.

A bit of trivia:  He "discovered" Wayne Newton, giving him a song that was meant for Darin to record.  The song was "Danke Schoen".

The music playing is a condensed version of "Beyond The Sea", and is for entertainment, educational and evaluation purposes only. Titles have full copyright by their respective artists and record companies. Please show your support for the artists who gave us this great music by purchasing their CDs.

If you are interested in purchasing a copy of the song "Beyond The Sea" by Bobby Darin, I have provided a link below to Amazon.com. They sell both new and used CDs.  I have purchased a lot of used CDs to use for my pages, and have never  had a problem.  Amazon also sells MP3 downloads in several categories with single songs priced from 89 to 99 cents.

I am also providing a link to the DVD "Beyond The Sea" if you are interested in purchasing the movie.  It's a great movie and brought back a lot of memories.
