Today I saw an Angel cry
As she watched a child passing by
A little girl with dark brown hair
Big brown eyes and skin so fair.

A little girl who had lost her way
As she traveled along her path astray
Anger and confusion ruling her soul
The agony of turmoil  taking its toll.

The little girl stopped; saw the Angel there
And somewhere beneath her cold somber glare
A glimmer of light appeared in her eyes
And for a moment brief, I saw the love inside.

As the Angel reached out to warmly embrace
The little girl turned and quickened her pace
Without saying a word, the child passed by
And with tear-filled eyes, I saw the Angel cry.

The beautiful Angel quickly dried her eyes
And replaced her tears with warm love inside
As she watched the young child walking away
In barely a whisper, I heard her say:

"I am making a vow to this child so small,
To stay by her side through it all
Throughout her trials, I will be there
To offer comfort and warm loving care.

I will protect her and shield her with God's great love
And replenish her heart with His love from above
I will tenderly tell her she has the courage to cope
When she is ready to heal, there will always be hope

In her suffering and painful darkness and fears
I will embrace her with love and wipe all her tears
She will forever know she is never alone
And when the time is right, God will gently lead her home."

"Angel"
Recorded by
Sarah McLachlan

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day

I need some distraction, oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
Let me be empty, oh and weightless then maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of the angel, fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room and the endlessness that you feel
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel, may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight line and everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack

It don't make no difference escaping one last time
It's easier to believe in this sweet madness
Oh, this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of the angel, fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room and the endlessness that you feel
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie

You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
