The following was written by a friend of mine:

To my baby, born an ANGEL on November 7, 2001

How do you miss someone you've never held?
How do you miss someone you've never seen?
How do you miss someone you've never named?

Sweet little baby - oh Baby of Mine!
How did I fall in love with you in such a short time?
How did I have a lifetime of love and dreams?
I know now you are dancing in every moonbeam.

How do I get through the rest of my life?
Without cuddling and loving and kissing you?
How do I get through the rest of today!
I don't even know if you'd wear pink or blue?

I know that in such a short, sweet time,
You changed my life and you were mine!
I know that when the time does come
I will love you and hold you and never let go!

So until that day comes and we meet face to face,
Play with the angels - In His "Baby place"
And when the day comes, your Mommy I'll be
And finally - my whole heart will be set free!

With love,
Mommy

and Mommy writes:

You know, I've always felt sorry for people who have suffered the loss of a "not quite ready" baby but couldn't truly understand.  I guess it always happens to someone else.  Well, it is amazing how many  thoughts, dreams, hopes & wishes a person has in the short weeks you know of the baby growing inside of you!

I think my favorite memory of this little person was a week (about 5 weeks into the pregnancy) after I found out I was pregnant.  I was lying in bed, just about asleep, and for some reason I had a strong urge to "pat my baby" to sleep and touched my belly and felt such an overwhelming feeling of love and warmth for this little person I stayed awake and just fell in love, and I know he/she was real.
I would like to think that this child felt the same feelings and it comforts me to know that my baby knew that I loved him/her while he/she was in my womb. I'm sorry if this is too much to share.  I guess this explains a little about the poem I wrote. How do you have memories of someone you've never met?  I am so glad that we do, for this is a memory that I will hold dear for a lifetime.

The words above and the beautiful poem were written by a very special friend of mine who recently lost her unborn baby. Since I have never experienced a loss such as this, I can't say I know how she feels, and I can only imagine the pain she must feel in her heart. Life is so precious, and for whatever reason, God chose to take this unborn baby back home before it experienced life. We cannot question God's reasons, and I know this little angel is now at home with God. I believe that someday this young mother will be able to hold her little angel in her arms and sing it beautiful lullabies.

"You'll Be In My Heart"
Words and music by Phil Collins

Come stop your crying, it will be all right
Just take my hand; hold it tight
I will protect you from all around you
I will be here, don't you cry.

For one so small you seem so strong
My arms will hold you; keep you safe and warm
This bond between us can't be broken
I will be here, don't you cry.

Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on now and forever more
You'll be in my heart no matter what they say.

You'll be here in my heart, in my heart always.
Always.
